All our therapists operate under codes of conduct from Professional Associations. We are currently registered (030-H14) with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) which is an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, an independent body, accountable to the UK Parliament.
CNHC registrants have agreed to be bound by the highest standards of conduct and have registered voluntarily. All of them are professionally trained and fully insured to practise.
The CNHC will investigate complaints about alleged breaches of our Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance. They impose disciplinary sanctions that mirror those of the statutory healthcare regulators. In line with the guidance in the above Marlow Sports Therapy staff recognise that we are in a position of trust and have extra responsibility to prioritise and ensure the welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults whilst in our care.
If a client is under 16 years of age a parent or guardian must be present at all times during a consultation and any subsequent treatment and explicit authority from parent and consent from the child gained before any treatment. Adaption of communication maybe necessary to ensure a vulnerable person is not discriminated against and fully understands the reasons for treatment.
Confidentiality must be maintained at all times. However, if an issue arises with a vulnerable person that gives concern to staff, if appropriate, they will speak with the vulnerable person, parent or guardian and/or the senior therapist at Marlow Sports Therapy. If deemed in the best interest of the vulnerable person the issue maybe disclosed to another statutorily regulated healthcare professional, Local Authority officer or Emergency Services as deemed appropriate.
Contact and medical data records will be securely stored for a minimum 8 years after any treatment. In the case of under 18s the information will be stored until at least their 26th birthday.
